C: "Oh, there is one more thing I want transferred."
K: "Sure what is it?"
C: "My Quicken 2000."
K: "Oh, Let me try."
I then said to myself, remember when we tried to install Quicken on Vista, how long it took to find work a rounds, and even then it did not always work.
I pop in the disk, and I get the W7 warning that it may not be compatible. I say so what lets try anyways.
I click install and it starts to install, and behold it finishes too. I select restore from backup and bingo it is working as it should.
WOW, something written in 1999 worked in 7 natively. NICE.

Hello-
ReplyDeleteIs your Windows 7 32-bit or 64-bit?
I'm hoping to install my old Quicken 99 when I ge a new computer soon.
Thanks!
It was on an ASUS All in One, which uses Windows 7 32 bit. That is a great question. I am unsure if it will work on 64 bit, but I have yet to have any real issues with 64 bit yet.
ReplyDeleteT will not install in Windows x64 - having to use XP Mode to run Quicken 2000
ReplyDeleteI had to do the same thing at a doctors office for some x-ray software and at a video store for a POS. XP Mode may be the gold lining in W7. My next blog will be about XP mode.
ReplyDeleteHi I Am trying to install Quicken 2000 on Windows 7 64-bit. I have heard people mention running it in XP mode but I have tried the compatability in all versions with no joy can any one help PLEASE
ReplyDeleteI have just posted a blog on XP mode
ReplyDeleteHi Kyle,
ReplyDeleteHave upgraded to W7 and installed QB 2007/08, all seemed fine until I came to Email a invoice from within QB, well nothing happens - any suggestions
Thanks
Should have mentioned the w7 64 bit.
ReplyDeleteRight sorted this out myself - Cause Win 7 doesnt have Outlook Express, QB 2007/08 only reconizes Outlook Express and not Windows Live - so therein lies the problem
ReplyDeleteThanks
I have tried to install Quicken 2000 on Windows 7 after updating from Vista but the CD drive will not even recognise the disc. I was able to get round the compatibility problem when I installed Vista but W7 is proving to be more stubbon. Does anyone have a solution?
ReplyDeleteI have installed Quicken 2000 on windows 7 . Put the disk in the drive, click on my computer, right click dvd drive RW, click open, click WIN95, click SET UP Application and it will install. problem solved. NJ
ReplyDeleteI installed quicken 99 on windows 7 64 bit.
ReplyDeleteI had to go into the disk1 folder and run setup.exe, as install.exe said it was incompatible. It seems to run ok with no other issues on my computer
One issue. I can't get it to open Printer setup or print check. Quicken 2000 installed and works great on Windows 7, but I can't print, can anyone help?
ReplyDeleteIwas able to install Quick books 2000, on windows7 but got this message when I attempted to run...'the item qbw32.exe that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved'..help!
ReplyDeleteI realize this is a long time coming for an answer sorry.
ReplyDeleteIn this case I think you may have been clicking on the "Old Desktop's" Shortcut which probably pointed to the Folder Program Files. In Windows 7 64 Bit it Uses the folder Program Files (x86).
I really wish they named the 64 bit folder Program Files (x64) and left the 32 bit the same.
Hope that helps, 6 months late :)
